Cloudflare has introduced a series of platforms and updates to its networking services as a part of expediting the shift toward zero-trust IT ecosystems by leveraging virtual private network (VPN) based on a Wireguard protocol that is augmented for data encryption. And the implementation of that VPN offered by Cloudguard is called WARP.
Cloudflare Company CEO Matthew Prince states Cloudflare One expands WARP to build a network-as-a-service platform managed by the cloud using a common control panel and user interface.
Additionally, it replaces the patchwork of security and WAN (wide-area networking) appliances scattered across the company.
On the occasion of a Zero Trust Week initiative, Cloudflare took the opportunity to announce its plan of integrating that service with CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, VMware Carbon Black, and Tanium that broadens the Cloudflare control plane to platforms and services provided by these tech vendors.
Additionally, the Cloudflare Access service is expanded to offer support for third-party SaaS apps. At the same time, Cloudflare Gateway has been updated to add a Layer 7 firewall and integration with the Cloudflare WARP desktop client and the Cloudflare Teams offering.
The company also introduced Magic Firewall, a network-level firewall meant for remote users, data centers, branch offices, and cloud infrastructure that transfers a large chunk of security processing activities to the Cloudflare network.
Furthermore, Cloudflare offers a free analytics tool and a beta release of Cloudflare Browser Isolation, which operates browser sessions in sandboxed environments in Cloudflare data centers.
Cloudflare Browser Isolation shares the final result of a web page rendering instead of streaming pixels to the user.
Cloudflare also gave out information on its rearchitected Argo Tunnel that it uses to build secure connections to differentiate between persistent objects such as DNS records and ephemeral objects like connections by dedicating a permanent name to a tunnel.
Cloudflare is on a spree to unite the management of security and networking services when several enterprises are reconsidering their entire approach to IT.
Other than depending on legacy appliances, Matthew Prince mentioned that service enables secure connections irrespective of employees working from home or office setup. He added how the work from home fundamental is putting the final nail in the castle-and-moat approaches to cybersecurity.
Cloudflare’s integrated networking and security services are built on a network of data centers that are managed by the company across 200 cities as a part of a content delivery network (CDN) it already manages.
Considering the pandemic times when IT teams are not able to deploy and upgrade physical appliances, Cloudflare believes that more networking services will be consumed via a secure service based on a zero-trust architecture.
